What is Polytrauma?

The Washington, D.C. Polytrauma Network Site is one of twenty-one facilities in the country designed to provide long-term rehabilitative care to veterans and service members who experienced severe injuries (including brain injuries) to more than one organ system.  For more information about Polytrauma, visit the national Polytrauma System of Care page.

Mental Health Support

Many veterans with Polytrauma injuries also need mental health support.  If you or someone you know is having trouble readjusting to civilian life, is having trouble sleeping, or is experiencing mood swings, depression, or other signs of extreme stress, we can offer free or low-cost assistance and care.

You are not alone.

Day Treatment Program

We offer inpatient and outpatient comprehensive day-treatment programs for returning soldiers and veterans.  These include both individual and group treatment sessions.   Our interdisciplinary team completes an assessment, provides individualized case management, and educates and counsels the patient and family.  We also offer specialized services such as vocational training, blind rehabilitation, community re-entry, and pain management.  Our physicians, therapists, and staff work together as a team in groups dedicated to cognitive rehabilitation, communication, adjustment issues, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), vocational or academic rehabilitation, family support, and stress management.
