Polytrauma Rehabilitation Centers

VA’s Polytrauma Rehabilitation Centers (PRCs) provide the most intensive specialized and comprehensive rehabilitation care for Veterans and Servicemembers with complex and severe polytrauma. Polytrauma injuries involve more than one physical region or organ system, one of which may be life threatening, and which results in physical, cognitive, psychological, or psychosocial impairments and functional disability. The PRCs embrace an interdisciplinary team approach to plan and administer an individually tailored rehabilitation plan to help the patient recover to the fullest extent possible. Each PRC is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and serves as a resource to develop educational programs and best practice models for other facilities across the system.
