VA Polytrauma System of Care Polytrauma / TBI System of CareComprehensive and high quality care for Veterans and Servicemembers Polytrauma care is for Veterans and returning Servicemembers with injuries to more than one physical region or organ system, one of which may be life threatening, and which results in physical, cognitive, psychological, or psychosocial impairments and functional disability. What it is and How it WorksThe VA Polytrauma System of Care provides comprehensive, high-quality, and inter-disciplinary care to patients. Teams of physicians from every relevant field plan and administer an individually tailored rehabilitation plan to help the patient recover as much as possible. Care FacilitiesTraumatic brain injury (TBI) care in VA is available throughout the entire Polytrauma System of Care which includes five Polytrauma Rehabilitation Centers (PRC), five Polytrauma Transitional Rehabilitation Programs (PTRP), 23 Polytrauma Network Sites (PNS), 87 Polytrauma Support Clinic Teams (PSCT), and 39 Polytrauma Points of Contact (POC). |
